New Delhi (NVI): At least ten people were killed and over 30 injured after a truck carrying around 45 people, traveling to district’s Lakhna, fell into a roadside ditch after driver lost control over the vehicle in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah today.
According to police, the passengers were on their way to attend a religious gathering.
All the injured people have been shifted to a hospital.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath expressed grief over the incident and announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs each to the kin of the deceased.
“UP CM Yogi Adityanath has deeply mourned the death of people in a road accident in Etawah district. He expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, wishing the departed soul peace,” UP CMO tweeted.
“The Chief Minister has instructed to provide financial assistance of ₹ 02-02 lakh to the kin of the deceased along with making proper arrangements for the treatment of injured in the accident,” it added.
Prominent leaders including President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief over the deaths in the incident.
“The horrific road accident in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh is very sad. My deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives. Along with this, I wish the injured get well as soon as possible,” Prime Minister’s Officer Tweeted.
