New Delhi: India’s 100 monuments tonight lit up in the national Tri-color as a mark of tribute to the Corona warriors after the country achieved the milestone of administering 100 crore COVID vaccine doses.
The vaccination drive in India has been one of the largest and fastest in the world.
The 100 monuments lit up in Tri-color included UNESCO World Heritage Sites, like the Red Fort, Humayun’s Tomb and Qutab Minar in Delhi, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh, Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, Mamallapuram Rath temples in Tamil Nadu.
St Francis of Assisi Church in Goa, Khajuraho, the forts of Chittor and Kumbhalgarh in Rajasthan, the excavated ruins of the ancient Nalanda University in Bihar and Dholavira in Gujarat were also among those monuments.
The illumination of these monuments was carried out as an expression of gratitude to Corona warriors like vaccinators, sanitation staff, paramedics, auxiliary workers and police personnel.
