1,334 new coronavirus cases, 27 deaths in last 24 hours: Health Ministry

New Delhi (NVI): The Union Health Ministry today said that there have been 1,334 new coronavirus cases since yesterday taking the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 15,712.

27 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, which takes the overall death toll in the country to 507, said Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary in Health Ministry, during the daily media briefing here.

“2,331 people have been cured so far which takes our percentage of people who are cured to 14.1 per cent, the Joint Secretary said.

There have been no cases in Mahe in Puducherry and Karnataka’s Kodagu in the last 28 days, he added.

“Apart from this, if we see today’s data, then there are 54 additional districts, besides the 2 above districts, in 23 states and Union Territories, where there has been no case in the last 14 days. 10 new districts have been included in this,” he said.

Aggarwal added that there are 755 dedicated Covid-19 hospitals in the country now, apart from 1,389 dedicated COVID Health Care Centres. With this, there are a total of 2,144 dedicated facilities where severe/critical patients can be treated, he said.
