Jammu, Sep 23(NVI): As, move to ensure the integrity and transparency of the ongoing Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Electoral Office has taken strict action against government employees caught undertaking political campaigning.
As many as 21 government employees have been suspended after a detailed inquiry confirmed them indulging in election campaigning, which itself is a gross violation of the code of conduct. Along with this, five adhoc and casual laborers were disengaged with similar charges made good against them, Chief Electoral Officer, J&K has stated.
“Acting on the ground reports quickly, these were employees who were found to be actively involved in political campaigning, and an immediate action was required to ensure transparency over the electoral process as well,” said the CEO.
Further, 20 employees have been transferred from their existing posts and attached to other offices so that no employee holds any specific bias or favoritism towards any political party or candidate for election. This measure has been undertaken so that no suspicion can arise regarding their impartiality while conducting the elections.
Additional notice has been given to 15 staff members for alleged involvement in some political activities by complaints received. The CEO explained that so far, 51 complaints had already been resolved, with findings that all involved had no involvement in any political campaign activity.
These steps give an idea of how seriously the Election Office was devoted to conducting fair, unbiased, and transparent Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections, free from all undue influence and partiality. (News Vibes of India)
