New Delhi (NVI): To mark the second anniversary of the Balakot Air Strike, the Indian Air Force (IAF) recently carried out a long range precision strike against a practice target.

Notably, the precision strike was carried out by members of the same Squadron who carried out the actual operations, according to a statement.

Furthermore, the Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria today flew a multi aircraft sortie with the units to commemorate the occasion along with the Sqn pilots.

On February 14, 2019, Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) targeted a CRPF convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway near Pulwama in South Kashmir killing 40 CPRF personnel.

In retaliation, on February 26, 2019, Indian Air Force launched an air strike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) camp in Pakistan’s Balakot.

A day after India’s action, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) also launched retaliatory airstrikes of its own as the two sides engaged in aerial warfare.

While the Indian Air Force shot down an F-16 of the PAF, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured by Pakistan after his fighter was shot down, and was later released.
