Srinagar: In a major success in Kashmir, security forces today killed five terrorists of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, including a so-called District Commander and a Pakistani terrorist.
The terrorists were killed in an overnight encounter in Hanjin Rajpora area of Pulwama district in South Kashmir.
”District commander of proscribed terror outfit LeT Nishaz Lone Khitab and one Pakistani terrorist amongst total 5 killed terrorists in Pulwama encounter,” the police said.
The encounter started late last night after a search and cordon operation was launched by security forces on the basis of information about presence of terrorists in the area, the police said.
In the intense gunfight that went on through the night, three terrorists of LeT were killed, the police said.
The operation is continuing, it added.
