New Delhi (NVI): India today launched its four-day long ‘Tika Utsav’ or vaccination festival, a massive drive to inoculate all those who are eligible, as the country battles an explosion of daily number of Covid cases-19 and the second wave of the pandemic.
The vaccination festival from April 11-14 began today on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. The festival will continue till the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar on 14 April.
The Tika Utsav comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with state chief ministers on Thursday to help people eligible for vaccination to get immunised during the period.
The vaccination drive comes on a day when the country recorded a new high of daily cases at 1,52,879 and 839 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The overall caseload in the country now stands at 1,33,58,805 while the death toll has risen to 1,69,275, as per Health Ministry’s latest data.

“We’re going to begin ‘Tika Utsav’ from today across the country. I urge countrymen to abide by 4 things in this phase of battle against corona…,” PM tweeted with a link to a message on his website.
