Srinagar: Security forces today achieved major successes in Kashmir as they killed 5 terrorists, including a top commander of a terror outfit, and arrested two others with 2 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), thus averting possible attacks.
Five terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in Kulgam district of South Kashmir, police said.
The encounters took place in Pombai and Gopalpora villages of the district after joint teams of police, Army and CRPF launched separate cordon and search operations (CASO) following inputs about militant presence.
In the encounter in Pombai village, 3 terrorists were killed while 2 were gunned down in the encounter in Gopalpora.
“#Terrorist Commander of proscribed #terror outfit TRF Afaq Sikander killed in #encounter,” said a tweet by the police quoting Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone) Vijay Kumar.
