Peshawar: At least 6 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 3 injured today in a joint attack by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Islam (LeI) on an army convoy in Peshawar Province, the second such coordinated action by the two Islamist groups in last few days.
TTP spokesman Muhammad Khurasani said the TTP and LeI jointly ambushed an army convoy in Ghebi Nika area of Bara in Khyber Agency of Peshawar in the afternoon.
As a result, 6 army personnel were killed and 3 were injured, he said.
The Mujahideen also captured a G3 gun, Khurasani said in a statement.
This was the second joint action by TTP and LeI in last 5 days.

Earlier, the two outfits carried out a joint attack on a Pakistan army post in Tirah Maidan area of Bara in Khyber Agency on December 14.
In that attack, 3 army personnel were killed and 2 injured, the TTP spokesman had said.
Khurasani also said today that a joint raid by the Pakistan army and police on TTP in Kirk area of Kohat failed yesterday.
The TTP inflicted heavy damage on the Pakistani forces in terms of men and material, he said, adding several soldiers were surely killed and injured in the counter attack by the Islamist outfit.
