New Delhi (NVI): The Indian Embassy in Jakarta today celebrated the 72nd Republic Day where ambassador to Indonesia Manoj K Bharti unfurled the tricolor, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
Thereafter, the Indian ambassador read out President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to the nation. the India Embassy in Jakarta said in a release.
A brief cultural programme was organised which included a rendition of patriotic songs by talents from the Indian diaspora and the Embassy families, it said.
In a separate video message, Ambassador Manoj K Bharti greeted the Indian citizens and people of Indian origin living in Indonesia and acknowledged their contribution to the growth of India. In his speech, Ambassador also mentioned about I Wayan Dibia from Indonesia Institute of the Arts, Bali who was awarded Padma Shree 2021 in the field of Art and Culture.
On the occasion, the Jakarta Post carried out a special supplement titled ‘Celebration of India’s 72nd Republic Day’ focusing the long standing friendship between India and Indonesia and scope of cooperation in the field of commerce, education, defence, and maritime connectivity.
The ceremony was attended by the officials of the Embassy and the ASEAN officials and their family members while observing the social distancing norms.
