Srinagar, Apr 14 (NVI): Police have arrested eight persons and identified 25 others in connection with vandalism during a student protest in Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday.
The protest had erupted following allegations against a lecturer, during which incidents of damage to public and private property were reported.
“Eight persons involved in ransacking property and damaging vehicles have been arrested so far, while 25 others have been identified.
He added that strict action will be taken against all those found involved in disturbing public order.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused, the official said, urging people to maintain calm and not to take the law into their own hands the offical added.—(NVI)
