Peshawar, Aug 10 (NVI) In stepped up offensive under ‘Operation_Al-Khandaq’, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) tonight claimed to have killed more than 42 Pakistani soldiers and injured many more in multiple attacks across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province since yesterday.
The biggest among them was an ambush carried out on the Qalandar Road Sawob Mela area of Makin in South Waziristan past midnight yesterday, in which 2 military vehicles were destroyed and 25 personnel were killed and injured, according to TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani.
He said when the TTP cadres were returning after this attack, the Pakistani army attempted to ambush them.
However, based on timely information, the TTP fighters carried out a counter-offensive, killing 5 more military personnel and injuring several others.
Another major attack was carried out by the TTP at around 2 am last night, when it detonated a mine targeting a convoy of several military vehicles and foot soldiers in Barkambar Khel Durbi Khel area of Bara district of Khyber province.
At least 6 military personnel were killed in this attack and their bodies remained lying there until morning, the spokesman said, adding the bodies were finally removed by the locals.
After the attack in Barkambar Khel, military vehicles were again targeted with laser guns and heavy weapons as they were returning to the camp today, with more casualties reported, he saiad.
The TTP carried out 17 more attacks at various places since last night in which there were many casualties among the Pakistani armed forces.
Sharing details, the spokesman said in one attack, a spy camera installed on the main road was shot down in Bachkan Ahmadzai village, Ghazni Khel in Lakki Marwat district.
Last night, a post located in the Suri Pau Pagemore area of Lal Qala district of Dir-e-Pine province was attacked with laser guns and other weapons, with reports of casualties, he said.
