New Delhi (NVI): The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the country rose to nine today, with a total of 424 active COVID-19 cases reported across India, according to the Health Ministry.
The data available on the ministry’s website stated that 34 cases have been cured or discharged.
15,17,327 passengers have been screened at airports across the country, the ministry said adding that there has been one case of migrated COVID-19 patient.
Several cities in the country are under lockdown due to the pandemic including national capital Delhi. The ministry further stated that State and District wise details are awaited.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who announced the lockdown in Delhi yesterday, said that that despited lockdown in the national capital, the State Assembly will present its budget today. He said it is a necessary exercise as without passing Budget, Delhi Government will not be able to spend money from April 1.
He further added that a total of 30 COVID-19 cases have been found in Delhi out of which 23 are those with foreign travel history. Seven are the family members of these infected cases, he said, adding that the situation is still under control in Delhi.
“If we see at other countries, then we learn that if strict restrictions are not imposed, the situation may escalate,” he tweeted while urging the people to follow lockdown rules so that the situation doesn’t get out of control.
