Coronavirus cases cross 77 lakh mark globally; Brazil 2nd, India at 4th spot

US sees highest single-day spike in Covid cases

New Delhi (NVI): Covid-19 has infected over 77 lakh people across the world, while 4,30,128 people have died to the deadly pandemic. The United States tops the list with 21,15,233 cases, followed by Brazil at 8,50,796 cases and Russia at 5,20,129 cases.

While Brazil has emerged as the new epicenter of the pandemic, India has climbed up the list on the fourth spot with 3,20,922 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, China, from where the virus originated and spiraled into a pandemic in December last year, reported 57 new coronavirus cases yesterday, its highest daily count since April.

Lockdowns were imposed in parts of Beijing on Saturday to try to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus cluster.

Spain, which emerged as the epicenter a few weeks ago, is now at sixth spot with 2,43,605 cases and 27,136 deaths. The UK is at the fifth spot with 2,94,375 cases and 41,662 deaths.

Italy, Peru, Germany are at seventh, eighth, and ninth spots respectively.
