New Delhi (NVI): The coronavirus cases in India saw the biggest single-day spike of 22,771 in the past 24 hours, taking the total number to 6,48,315, Union Health Ministry confirmed.
The death toll due to the virus rose to 18,655, with 442 new fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours,
As many as 3,94,227 patients have recovered all over the country. With this the recovery rate in India stands at 60.73 percent.
In Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 1,92,990, followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,027,21 cases, and Delhi with 94,695 cases.
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of fatalities at 8376, ministry said.
The death toll in the national capital rose to 2,923, while 65,625 patients in Delhi have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
The other worst affected states are Gujarat (34,600), Uttar Pradesh (25,797), West Bengal (20,488) and Rajasthan (19,052).
Currently, 5,635 beds are occupied in the hospitals out of a total capacity of 15,243 beds, 1,948 in the dedicated Covid Care Centres and 167 in the dedicated Covid Health Centres. Over 15,878 people are under home isolation.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said the total number of samples tested up to July 3 is 95,40,132 of which 2,42,383 samples were tested yesterday.
