New Delhi (NVI): India’s COVID-19 cases crossed the seven lakh-mark and reached 7,19,665, with single-day spike of 22,252 in the last 24 hours, according to Union Health Ministry.
The death toll due to the virus rose to 20,160, with 467 new fatalities being reported in the past 24 hours.
So far, 4,39,948 patients have recovered all over the country.
Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-affected state due to COVID-19 with 2,11,987 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,14,978 cases and Delhi with 1,00,823 cases.
Other states with high corona cases are Gujarat (36,772), Uttar Pradesh (28,626), West Bengal (22,989) and Rajasthan (20,688).
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of fatalities at 9,026, followed by 1,960 in Gujarat and 1,571 in Tamil Nadu.
The death toll in the national capital rose to 3,115, while 72,088 patients in Delhi have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
In a development, West Bengal set up its first plasma bank at the Kolkata Medical College and Hospital yesterday.
Meanwhile, the Indian Council of Medical Research said, 2,41,430 samples were tested for COVID-19 on July 6, taking the total number of samples tested till Monday to 1,02,11,092.
