New Delhi (NVI): India saw a rise of 37,724 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number to 11,92,915, Union Health Ministry said.
The death toll in the country stood at 28,732 with 648 new fatalities being reported in the past 24 hours.
With this, India now has the seventh highest Covid-19 toll in the world, having gone past Spain’s count.
As many as 7,53,050 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.
In terms of total number of cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state with 3,27,031 coronavirus cases followed by Tamil Nadu with 1,80,643 and Delhi with 1,25,096 positive cases.
The other worst affected states are Gujarat (50,379) Uttar Pradesh (53,288) West Bengal (47,030) and Rajasthan (31,373).
In terms of deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 12,276 fatalities, ministry said.
The death toll in the national capital surged to 3,690 while another 1,06,118 patients have recovered so far, healthy ministry data shows.
According to ICMR, the total number of samples tested up to 21 July is 1,47,24, 546 including 3,43,243 samples tested yesterday.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa yesterday confirmed that there will be no extension of lockdown in the state. However, lockdown rules will continue to be enforced in containment zones.
Apart from this, in view of the ongoing COVID-19 scenario, all passengers arriving by international flights at the Delhi Airport will have to undergo 7 days of quarantine at their own cost, followed by one-week of home quarantine.
