Global coronavirus cases surpass 19.3 million

Global Covid-19 cases cross 66 mn mark

New Delhi (NVI): The coronavirus cases worldwide have increased to over 19.3 million, while the death toll has reached nearly 7,20,000. More than 11.7 million patients have recovered globally, according to John Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of cases stand around 4.94 million while more than 1,61,300 people have lost their lives due to the deadly virus.

Brazil the second most affected country from COVID-19, after the US, recorded 50,230 cases within 24-hours and exceeded 2.96 million. The country’s death toll stands at 99,572, according to the ministry.

Russia reported 5,241 new cases, pushing its national tally to 877,135, the fourth largest in the world. The death toll rose to 14,725 in the country.

France has recorded over 2,200 confirmed coronavirus infections, a new daily record since the lockdown was lifted in June, the country’s total number stands at 197,921.

The North-American country Mexico posted 6,717 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, increasing the country’s accumulated total to 469,407.

Meanwhile, Italy’s cabinet approves USD 29 billion package to revive an economy battered by the coronavirus crisis, as Mexico official warns of prolonged pandemic amid rising cases.
