From Srinagar to Bollywood: Journey of a budding young Kashmiri actor

Srinagar (NVI): 20-yr-old Adil Pala from Dalagate, Srinagar has come a long way from his days as a teenage actor at a local theater to now working as a junior artist in Bollywood.

All this happened in just four years and Adil’s journey is now an inspiration to other youths in the Valley.

“When I was 16, I started working on different roles in a local theater and finally I reached Bollywood. I am working as a junior artist in Bollywood at present,” Adil told NVI.

While working at the local theater, he was picked up for anchoring in a TV show- “Famous Voice of Kashmir” that was being shot at Tagore Hall in Srinagar. “After performing in the show, I got an offer with a character name Adil in the drama serial Avrodh— the siege within— which was premiered on Sony Live,” he said.

He, however, said that though the role given to him was negative, that chance turned out to be a great learning experience for him and raised his confidence level. “In the meantime, I played a lead role in a Kashmiri movie that was screened on international film festival eve. I played the role of Sikander, the main character,” Adil said.

He said after his role in the Kashmiri film, he started getting appreciation from various quarters including some Bollywood celebrities. “And I finally got a chance to work in Bajrangi Bhaijan, movie and another movie- Raazi. I worked with superstars like Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif,” Adil said.

He further said that Covid has cast a shadow on his future prospects when he was about to more breaks in Bollywood movies. “At present, I am working in local advertisement, video albums and Doordarshan Urdu and Doordarshan Kashmir serials,” Adil said.

He said that Kashmir is full of talent and urged youth to work hard and explore new means. “Youth must work towards fulfilling their dreams. My simple message is that you can achieve anything in the world,” Adil said.

Asked about his future dreams, he said he would like to play the lead role in a Bollywood movie for which he has been working hard for years.
