Srinagar (NVI): Security forces today arrested four militant associates in Ratnipora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district and recovered four grenades, 100 AK-47 rounds from them, police officials said.

They said that acting on specific information, joint teams of Police and Army laid a cordon at Ratnipora village and arrested the four militant associates.

They were identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Dar, Parvaiz Ahmed Kumar, Sajad Ahmed Dhobi, and Shahid Manzoor, all residents of Shopian.

“Four grenades and 100 rounds of AK-47 rifle were recovered from the possession of four people arrested,” a police official said.

He said that interrogation of the arrested youths is on to find out their affiliation. “Preliminary investigations have revealed that they were working for Hizbul Mujahideen outfit,” the official said, adding that they were assigned the task of transporting weapons to the Hizbul terrorists in Shopian and Pulwama districts of South Kashmir.

This is the second incident since morning in Kashmir. Earlier in the day, security forces launched a search operation in the Natipora area of Srinagar and recovered one pistol and a hand grenade from a residential house, where militants were believed to have managed to escape.
