New Delhi (NVI): More than 25.6 million people around the world have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, and 8,55,290 have died. Nearly 17 million people have recovered, according to the latest data from John Hopkins University.
In the US, the total number of cases have climbed past 6 million while the number of fatalities is nearing 1,85,000 in the country.
Brazil’s coronavirus infections are nearing 4 million while the death toll 1,22,000.
Australia’s state of Victoria confirmed 90 new cases on Wednesday, compared with a peak of more than 700 last month. Six more people have died.
The pandemic has pushed Australia into a recession for the first time since 1991 after the country reported a second quarter drop in GDP that was the biggest since records began.
South Korea has recorded 267 new cases, a slight increase over the day before. Overall, South Korea now has 20,449 confirmed cases and 326 deaths.
Germany has seen its new cases rise by 1,256 to 2,44,855. The country, which has seen some ugly protests in recent days calling for an end to restrictions on everyday life, also saw fatalities rise by 11 to 9,313.
