New Delhi (NVI): The National Recruitment Agency (NRA) is expected to start conducting common eligibility test (CET) from September 2021, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today.
Singh in written reply in Lok Sabha said that the agency will conduct only preliminary screening of candidates and the final recruitment will be done through domain specific examinations or tests to be conducted by respective agencies.
“NRA will conduct CET to screen or shortlist candidates for jobs in government sector for which recruitment is presently carried out through the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS),” he added.
The Minister also said that the agency has been set up to provide the same platform to all candidates at the nearest District HQ and with a view to set a new standard of equity and inclusiveness in recruitment.
“Based on the score obtained in CET conducted by the agency, candidates may appear in domain specific exam or tests to be conducted by respective recruitment agencies,” he added.
Singh further stated, NRA would identify language experts to translate the question bank or paper in all regional languages included in the 8th Schedule of the constitution, as per requirement and subject to adequate number of candidates opting to take test in the regional language.
Moreover, the government has set up National Recruitment Agency (NRA) on August 28 this year, as an independent, professional, specialist organization for conduct of computer based online common eligibility test (CET) to shortlist candidates, the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions said in a statement.
The shortlist candidates for vacancies of Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts, Group ‘B’ Gazetted posts, which are exempted from consultation with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and Group ‘C’ posts in the government and equivalent posts in instrumentalities of the government, for which similar eligibility conditions have been prescribed, the statement added.
