J&K: Soldier killed, another injured in CFV along LoC in Poonch

Srinagar (NVI): A soldier was killed and another injured in an unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) by Pakistan Army in Mankote sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu division last night.

Defence officials told NVI that yesterday night, two soldiers, Sepoy Karnail Singh and Rifleman Virender Singh, suffered injuries in intense shelling by Pakistan and were shifted to Army hospital, Rajouri. However, Sepoy Karnail Singh succumbed to his injuries. He belonged to 10 JAK Rifles.

“Indian Army gave a befitting reply to the firing,” the officer said.

On September 18, a soldier was killed and two others injured in CFV by Pakistan at Surankote area of Rajouri. Figures suggest that this year so far, 1,950 CFV violations have taken place, which is highest in the past three years in J&K.
