New Delhi (NVI): India coronavirus tally has crossed the 67-lakh mark and stands at 67,57,132, with a single-day spike of 72,049 new cases in last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said.
The country’s death toll has reached 1,04,555 with 986 fatalities reported during this period.
Notably, the number of active cases stands at 9,07,883, while 57,44,694 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospitals across the country.
However, the recovery rate improves to 85.02 per cent vs yesterday’s 84.70 per cent in the country.
In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases climbed to 14,65,911, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 7,29,307 cases, and Tamil Nadu with 6,30,408 cases.
The other worst affected states in the country are Karnataka (6,57,705), Uttar Pradesh (4,20,937) and Delhi (2,95,236).
Maharashtra has also reported the highest number of death toll at 38,717 followed by 9,917 deaths in Tamil Nadu.
The death toll in the national capital surpassed to 5,581, while 2,66,935 patients have recovered so far, the healthy ministry data shows.
According to Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total 8,22,71,654 samples tested for COVID-19 in the country up to October 6. Of these 11,99,857 samples were tested yesterday.
Meanwhile, the government said that about 48 per cent of the COVID-19 deaths in the country have been reported from 25 districts in eight states, of which 15 districts are in Maharashtra alone.
