India’s Covid-19 tally crosses 7 mn; recoveries above 6 mn

New Delhi (NVI): The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India today crossed 70-lakh mark while total recoveries surpassed 60-lakh mark, with a slowdown in number of new cases in the country in the past few weeks.

India is the second worst-hit country by the pandemic after the US. In terms of fatalities globally, it is in the third spot after the US and Brazil. More than 1,00,000 people have died in the country from the deadly infection so far.

There are 8,83,185 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 12.65 per cent of the total caseload.

Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-affected state with 15,06,018 Covid-19 positive cases and 39,732 deaths. The state has 2,36,947 active cases and 12,29,339 recovered cases so far.

Meanwhile, around 1.07 million people across the world have lost their lives due to coronavirus while 25.7 million have recovered. The global tally now stands at 37 million.
