New Delhi (NVI): More than 41.6 million people have been infected by coronavirus worldwide, with over 11,36,000 deaths reported, according to Johns Hopkins University tally. More than 28.2 million patients have been cured and recovered from the deadly contagion globally.
In the US, the total number of coronavirus cases have exceeded 8.4 million while the total number of fatalities have surpassed 2,23,000 in the country.
Brazil’s coronavirus infections have crossed 5.3 million while the country’s death toll stands at 1,55,900.
Australia will slightly lift the cap on the number of citizens and permanent residents allowed to return each week, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Friday, as local Covid-19 cases slow to single digits.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by more than 10,000 for a second day, with 11,242 new infections, taking the total to 4,03,291. The reported death toll rose by 49 to 9,954, the tally showed.
Greece will impose a curfew in areas most affected by Covid-19, including Athens. The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said movement would be banned from Saturday between 12.30am and 5am in locations deemed high-risk.
France extended a night-time curfew to more regions, affecting two-thirds of the French population.
