J&K: Hizb militant injured in Anantnag shootout succumbs

Srinagar (NVI): A Hizb militant who was injured in a shootout yesterday with forces in South Kashmir’s Anantnag succumbed to his injuries today at hospital in Srinagar.

As reported earlier about yesterday’s shootout, an Army official had said a Joint Mobile Vehicle Interception Post (MVIP) of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Army was established at Naina Sangam area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

“A motorcycle approached the MVIP and it was signaled to stop. The pillion rider fired 7 to 8 rounds on the MVIP party. In a retaliatory fire by Joint MVIP party the pillion rider was hit and he fell from the bike,” the official said.

“The rider fled away from the location while the injured militant was admitted to District hospital, Janglat Mandi, Anantnag,” he added.

The Army further said that the arrested injured militant was in possession of a Pistol and two rounds.

They added that, the injured militant Zahoor Ahmed Lone alias Zaheer Abas went absconding from Srinagar in November and was a resident of Inder village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Official sources also said, at SMHS Hospital doctors confirmed that Zahoor Ahmed succumbed to his injuries on Friday. They said he had suffered multiple bullet injuries.
