New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 75.6 million, with over 16,72,800 deaths reported, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

Over 43 million patients have been cured and recovered from the deadly contagion globally.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infections have reached more than 17.44 million, while the number of fatalities due to the virus have surpassed 3,13,200 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases has surpassed 7.16 million, while the country accounts for the second highest number of fatalities at 1,85,650.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Germany increased by 31,300 to 14,71,238, data from the Robert Koch Institute, while the reported death toll rose by 702 to 25,640 in the country.

Mexico city will impose extraordinary measures on residents to contain a surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths. The country has reported 1.3 million confirmed COVID-19 cases and 1,17,249 fatalities.

Meanwhile, Italy will impose new lockdown over Christmas. Bars, restaurants and non-essential shops are to close nationwide from December 24 to 27 and December 31 to January 3, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has announced.
