New Delhi (NVI): Union Health Ministry today warned people against downloading the fake apps in the name of ‘CoWIN’ which are currently available on App stores.

Taking to Twitter, the Health Ministry said, “Some apps named “CoWIN” apparently created by unscrupulous elements to sound similar to upcoming official platform of Government, are on Appstores.”

It added that, “DO NOT download or share personal information on these. MoHFW Official platform will be adequately publicised on its launch.”

The official CoWIN (COVID Vaccine Intelligence Network) app introduced by the Central Government is currently in its pre-production stage and hasn’t gone live on Google play store or any other App store for public use.

While the platform is yet to be launched, some applications on mobile platforms have already cropped up with similar names.

According to the reports, more than 10,000 people have downloaded this app and are facing problems.

The CoWin app is supposed to be a one-stop digital platform for Indian citizens to self-register themselves for the upcoming mass vaccination drive.

Once registered, the users will be able to get vaccinated once the COVID-19 vaccine is made available, the reports said.
