New Delhi (NVI): Below normal minimum temperatures are likely to be recorded over Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and West Rajasthan, East Rajasthan, in the month of January, according to forecast by India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Furthermore, subdivisions of Punjab, East and West Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Telangana and north Karnataka, are likely to experience climatological probability for minimum temperature, IMD added.
According to the National Weather Forecasting Centre of IMD, remaining subdivisions of the country is likely to experience above normal minimum temperatures.
The probability forecast for maximum temperature indicates that all the subdivisions of southern peninsular India and most of the subdivisions of central India – parts of Madhya Pradesh, Vidharbha, Marathawada – and few subdivisions of western India – Gujarat region and Sourashtra and Kutch – are likely to experience below normal maximum temperature, IMD said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the mean temperature forecast indicates that most of subdivisions of India are likely to experience below normal mean temperatures.
However, above normal mean temperatures are likely to be experienced over Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Costal Andhra Pradesh, most of the subdivisions along the foothills of Himalayas and Northeast India.
Normal mean temperatures are likely to be experienced over Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
In addition to this, the weather system indicates that the Western Himalayan Region is very likely to experience light isolated rain/snow and isolated rain over Punjab, Haryana, Northeast Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh on January 8.
Furthermore, under the influence of cyclonic circulation over Southeast Arabian Sea and another cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu coast and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls and moderate thunderstorm, & lightning very likely over southern peninsular India during next 2-3 days.
According to IMD, isolated to scattered rainfall with moderate thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places is very likely over Maharashtra during the next 2 days.
Thereafter, under the influence of fresh spell of easterly wave, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe on January 10, 11, 2021.
