New Delhi (NVI): On the occasion of 73rd Army Day, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today greeted soldiers and praised the Indian Army, saying it is strong, brave and resolute.
President Ram Nath Kovind remembered the soldiers and tweeted, “On Army Day, greetings to the valiant men and women of the Indian Army. We remember the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. India will remain forever grateful to courageous and committed soldiers, veterans and their families. Jai Hind.”

Furthermore, in a tweet this morning, PM Modi said Indian soldiers have made the country proud as he wished them on behalf of the people.
“Our army is strong, courageous and determined, which has always raised the head of the country with pride. I salute the Indian Army on behalf of all the countrymen,” PM Modi tweeted in Hindi.

To mark the occasion, the Indian Army paid tribute to the continuous efforts of the soldiers at the National War Memorial in the national capital today.
Among those present were CDS General Bipin Rawat, Army Chief General MM Naravane, IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, and Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh.
Army Day is celebrated every year at all Army Command headquarters.
On this day in 1949, Indian Army got its first Indian chief in Lt Gen KM Carriappa who took over the command from General Francis Butcher, the last British commander-in-chief of India.
