New Delhi (NVI): The minimum temperature is likely to increase slightly over Delhi-NCR between January 23 to 24, expected to bring some relief from cold conditions in the region, according to IMD.
The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) said this is due to the influence of a fresh western disturbance.
According to the IMD’s weather bulletin, “A fresh Western Disturbance affecting the western Himalayas is likely to provide some relief from the chill in Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR). The minimum temperature is expected to increase to 9 degrees Celsius by January 24 as a result of easterly winds and cloud cover.”
“Easterly winds have already started blowing in the national capital. A cloud cover will further increase the minimum temperature on January 23 and 24,” IMD’s regional centre said.
The Met department also predicted that the cold will, however, make a return in the national capital after a few warm and windy days from January 25.
Meanwhile, the national capital’s minimum temperature dropped to 4.2 degrees Celsius today morning, three notches below normal. “Dense fog also engulfed parts of Delhi-NCR, which lead to poor visibility in many areas,” the IMD said.
The Met department in regard to this said that, due to fog the lowest visibility at Palam area was recorded at 1,000 metre, while 500 metres at Safdarjung airport area at around 7 am.
Apart from this, from January 22 to January 24, rainfall is expected in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, the IMD predicted.
It added that “Drizzling is also expected in Delhi, Chandigarh and adjoining areas on January 23.”
