New Delhi (NVI): The Ministry of Minority Affairs is organising the 24th “Hunar Haat” at the Avadh Shilpgram in Lucknow from January 22 to February 4 with the theme of “Vocal for Local”.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will formally inaugurate the Hunar Haat of indigenous products of artisans and craftsmen, Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told media persons in Lucknow.
Naqvi stated that UP Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma and senior ministers will also grace the occasion, Ministry of Minority Affairs said in a statement.
“Artisans and craftsmen from 31 States and Union Territories are participating in the event,” he was quoted saying in a statement.
The Minister also said that, about 500 artisans, craftsmen and culinary experts from 31 states and Union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, among others states have come at Hunar Haat for display and sale of their exquisite handmade products.
“Indigenous products like ajrakh, applique, art Metal ware, bagh print, batik, banarsi saree, bandhej, bastar art & herbal products, block print, brass metal bangles, cane & bamboo products, canvas painting, chikankari, copper bell handloom textile, kalamkari etc will be available at Hunar Haat,” he added.
Naqvi said that the people will enjoy traditional delicacies from different parts of the country at the event, the minister said, adding that renowned artists of the country will perform cultural events on the theme of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ every day in the evening.
He also informed that the “Hunar Haat” initiative has proved to be immensely beneficial and encouraging for artisans and craftsmen as lakhs of people purchase indigenous handmade products of artisans at the event.
“More than 5 lakh artisans, craftsmen and people associated with them have been provided employment and employment opportunities in the last about 5 years through Hunar Haat,” the minister added
The minister also said people can buy “Hunar Haat” products from the hunarhaat.org website as well.
In the coming days, ‘Hunar Haat’ will be organised at Mysore, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Indore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Ranchi, Kota, Surat or Ahmedabad, Kochi, Puducherry and other places, Naqvi added.
