Poonch (NVI): Pakistan army today handed over to the Indian authorities a woman from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir who had “inadvertently” crossed the Line of Control (LoC) around two months back.
Zareena Bi from Chela Dangri area of Poonch district of Jammu region had crossed over to the other side of LoC a few months ago, as per officials.
Pakistani media quoting Pak army sources said that the country termed it as a gesture of goodwill in its “continuation of efforts to maintain peace and tranquility along Line of Control (LoC).”
“Zareena Bi from Chela Dangri was handed over to us at Rawala -Poonch crossing point by Pakistan army. After completing all the legal formalities, Zareena Bi was handed over by Pakistan army and she will be accordingly handed over to family members,” a top police official here said.
Both India and Pakistan have in the past returned people as a goodwill gesture who inadvertently cross the border.
