New Delhi (NVI): Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia today announced that all schools for classes 9 and 11 will reopen in the national capital from February 5.
He also said that colleges, universities and diploma institutes will also be allowed to reopen for the students in the city.
While announcing the decision, the Deputy CM said, “All schools for classes 9 and 11 students, as well as colleges and degree diploma institutions will reopen in Delhi from February 5, following COVID-19 protocols put in place.”
Students will attend classes in a staggered manner and with the permission of parents, and schools & colleges will be expected to follow the Covid-19 guidelines, he added.
Sisodia further stated that the administration of schools have been asked to ensure students, teachers maintain social distancing inside the institutes and wear face masks.
“The schools and colleges will also have to provide hand sanitizer inside the building,” he said.
This decision has been taken after reopening the schools for classes 10 and 12 on January 18 in Delhi, keeping in mind the upcoming board examinations.
Earlier, Sisodia had stated that the schools in the national will only be reopened once the COVID-19 vaccine is made available for the public.
The Centre had allowed the reopening of schools in the states from September 21, 2020, for the first time after the nationwide lockdown in March.
Meanwhile, the national capital has registered 6,34,524 coronavirus cases, while the death toll stands at 10,835 in Delhi, the Health Ministry data shows.
