India delivers COVID-19 vaccine consignment to Oman

New Delhi (NVI): India today delivered a consignment of 1,00,000 doses of Covishield vaccine as part of the donation program to its key partners and neighbouring countries.

Minister of External Affairs, S Jaishankar took to twitter and wrote, “Made in India vaccines arrive in Muscat. Reflects a deep friendship, spanning millenia. #VaccineMaitri”

Last week, Oman’s Minister of Health had confirmed that Oman would be receiving 100,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine from India.

So far, India has delivered over 5.5 million doses of coronavirus vaccines to neighbours and friendly countries.

These include 1,50,000 to Bhutan, 1,00,000 to the Maldives, one million to Nepal, two million to Bangladesh, 1.5 million to Myanmar, 50,000 to Seychelles, and 5,00,000 to Sri Lanka.

On a commercial level, exports to Bangladesh, Brazil and Morocco have been made.

India also plans to commercially export vaccines to other countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Canada and Mongolia.
