Indian Embassy issues a travel advisory after military coup in Myanmar

New Delhi (NVI): Indian Embassy has issued a travel advisory for all Indians residing in Myanmar to avoid unnecessary travel and take due precautions following the military coup and declaration of state emergency.

In a statement, the Indian Embassy in Yagnon stated, “In view of the recent developments in Myanmar, all Indian Citizens are required to take due precautions and avoid unnecessary travel.”

“They may be in touch with the Embassy, if required,” the statement added.

In addition to this, the Air India flight on Yangon-New Delhi sector has also been rescheduled.

Issuing another advisory, the Embassy said, “This is to inform you that Air India flight which was earlier scheduled for February 4, on Yangon-New Delhi sector is now rescheduled for February 11, due to unavoidable reasons.”

“Now, the said flight will be operating from Yangon on 11 February 2021 (AI 1233, Departure Yangon 1500 hrs),” the embassy said.

It further noted that the terms and conditions issued vide our earlier advisory dated January 25, 2021, regarding Air India flight will remain the same.

Moreover, the likely passengers who have already booked the air tickets would have to reach airport at 1130 hours, positively, on February 11, it added.

“The passengers who have booked the air tickets for this flight are hereby informed that Air India will re-validate the air tickets and the same will be forwarded to you in your registered email ID by 10 February 2021,” the embassy added.

Yesterday, the Myanmar’s military declared a state of emergency in the country for one year, following the coup, where Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint and other senior officials have been detained.
