India’s Covid tally rises by 9,110 fresh cases, 78 deaths

New Delhi (NVI): With 9,110 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, India’s coronavirus cases tally reached 10,847,304, the Union Health Ministry confirmed today.

The death count climbed to 1,55,158 with the novel coronavirus virus claiming 78 lives during this period, the data showed. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent.

Currently, more than 1.05 crore patients have been cured and recovered across the country and the total number of recoveries stand at 1,05,48,521, pushing the national recovery rate to 97.25 per cent.

While the active cases dropped further to 1.43 lakh-mark and stands at 1,43,625 in the country which accounts for 1.32 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

In worst-affected Maharashtra, the COVID-19 cases increased to 20,46,287 followed by Kerala with 9,72,180 and Karnataka with 9,42,846 positive cases.

The other worst hit states are Andhra Pradesh, (8,88,485), Tamil Nadu (8,42,261), Delhi (6,36,160) and Uttar Pradesh (6,01,455).

As of today, 60,35,660 people have been vaccinated in India, out of which, healthcare workers who have been vaccinated are 54,12,270. Around 6,23,390 frontline workers have been vaccinated since February 2.
