New Delhi (NVI): Schools in Uttar Pradesh have reopened today for Classes 6 to 8, after a long gap of eleven months due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
The state government has urged all school authorities to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the safety of the students and the staff in the schools amid the pandemic.
According to the Basic Education Department, the classes will be conducted only twice a week for now and only 50 per cent of the students will be allowed to attend them.
The school authorities have been asked to comply with the health protocols including wearing face masks, maintaining social distance and using hand sanitizers inside the campus.
Under the SOPs, it will be mandatory for all the schools to get a written consent letter from parents to send their students for attending classes and if the student wants to study from home he will be given an option to study online.
Also, students with COVID-19 symptoms in schools will be sent home immediately.
Meanwhile, the state government has also said that schools will reopen for students of classes 1 to 5 from March 1.
So far, Uttar Pradesh has registered 6,01, 562 coronavirus cases with 3,306 active cases, while the COVID-19 death toll has gone up to 8,691 in the state.
