New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 108 million, with over 2,382,100 deaths reported. Around 60.3 million patients have been cured and recovered from the contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
In the US, the total number of coronavirus cases have reached more than 27.4 million while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 4,80,700 in the country.
Brazil’s coronavirus cases has surpassed 9.7 million and stands at 9,765,455 while the country accounts for the second highest number of COVID-19 fatalities at 2,37,489
The Health Ministry of Mexico reported 10,388 new coronavirus cases and 1,323 fatalities, bringing the overall total to 1,978,954 cases with 172,557 deaths.
France also registered 20,701 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours. This is down from 21,063 on previous day. The total number reached to 3,466,629, while the death toll stands at 80,954 in the country.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe will begin its COVID-19 vaccination campaign next week, potentially positioning it as the first southern African nation to start inoculating citizens, the country’s health ministry said.
Apart from this, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidance for US schools to reopen, recommending universal mask-wearing and social distancing as key COVID-19 mitigation strategies to get students back in the schools quickly.
