New Delhi (NVI): For a majority of ordinary Pakistanis, it is the poor state of economy and not Kashmir that is the biggest problem confronting them, according to a survey.
According to a recent study released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the
Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International, only eight percent of Pakistanis have voted Kashmir as an important issue for the country while 53 percent have shown concern about inflation gripping the country.
Besides, unemployment has been the next very big issue for the country with 23 percent voting for it, the study said. Other issues that the ordinary Pakistanis are concerned are water crisis, corruption, dengue virus, political instability, load shedding and others.
The survey was carried out across the four provinces of the country during June 30-July 09, 2019, a statement by Gallup Pakistan said.
The survey belittles the Pakistani establishment’s efforts to aggressively rake up the Kashmir issue at international fora, more so since the abrogation of special status granted to Jammu and Kashmir in August.
It may be noted that a leading Pakistani Islamist party leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who is leading the much hype ‘Azadi March’ has also accused Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan of ruining the country’s economy.
