Gujarat schools reopen for classes 6-8

New Delhi (NVI): Schools in Gujarat reopened today for students of classes 6 to 8, nearly 11 months after educational institutions were shut down due to the pandemic.

The state government has directed schools to follow the standard operating procedures (SOP) and other COVID-19 guidelines.

Under the SOP, the attendance is not compulsory for the students and the schools will continue to hold online classes as well and Students attending the offline classes have been asked to submit a written consent from their parents.

Apart from this, while attending the school in offline mode the students, teachers and staff members will have to wear face masks and maintain social distancing.

The state government has also directed that the schools situated inside the containment zones will not be reopened.

Earlier, the state had reopened its schools for Classes 10 to 12 on January 11. The state had also reopened its colleges for undergraduate and postgraduate students on January 11.

So far, Gujarat has registered 2,66,034 coronavirus cases with 259,928 recoveries. The death toll stands at 4,403 across the state, the Health Ministry data shows.
