Coronavirus cases surpass 110.6 million globally

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 109 million, with over 2,450,400 deaths reported. Around 62.1 million patients have been cured from the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus cases have reached more than 27.9 million while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 4,95,500 in the country.

Brazil’s coronavirus cases has surpassed 10-million mark and stands at 10,96,394 while the country accounts for the second highest number of COVID-19 fatalities at 2,44737.

The Chinese mainland recorded eight new COVID-19 cases, all from overseas. The total number of confirmed cases on the mainland has reached 89,824 and the death toll stands at 4,636.

Mexico’s health ministry also registered 7,829 new coronavirus cases and 857 deaths, taking the total caseload to 2,030,491 with 178,965 fatalities.

Meanwhile, United States land borders with Canada and Mexico will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least March 21, the country’s government said, adding that, only trade in goods and merchandise and essential travel are allowed.

Apart from this, Greece also extended lockdown restrictions till March 1 to more areas of the country to stem the spread of COVID-19 infections but lifted it in others where infections receded, as per the reports.
