K’taka schools reopen for classes 6-8

New Delhi (NVI): Schools in Karnataka reopened today for the students of classes 6 to 8 after being shut down for 11 months due to the pandemic.

The schools are reopening all across the state, except for the Bengaluru district and Kerala border, where schools will only reopen for students of class 8.

The restrictions for reopening schools have been placed in Bengaluru and border areas in view of the ongoing COVID-19 situation. The dates for the reopening of junior classes in these areas will be communicated by the state government soon.

Meanwhile, the state government of has issued a list of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safe reopening of schools.

These SOPs need to be followed by the school authorities strictly for the safety of the students and the staff.

Under the SOPs, students appearing for physical classes at school will be required to present a COVID-19 negative test before entering the school premises for the safety of staff and other students.

The state government has already resumed the physical lessons for classes 10 and 12 in view of the upcoming board examinations.

So far, Karnataka has registered 9,48,149 coronavirus cases with over 9,29,800 recovering. The death toll stands at 12,294 across the state, the Health Ministry data shows.
