New Delhi (NVI): At least 54 students at a school in Haryana’s Karnal have tested positive for coronavirus, days after schools reopened across the state.
According to the reports, three students of Sainik School Kunjpura had tested positive for coronavirus yesterday following which the samples of 390 students and staff members of the school were taken for testing.
The tests report revealed that 54 students are COVID-19 positive.
In this regard, the authorities suspended classes and other academic activities in the school campus.
Notably, the hostel building of that school has also been sealed and declared as containment zone.
Earlier, Haryana had allowed students from Classes 9 to 12 to go to schools in December last year. They also reopened for those from Classes 3 to 5 from February 24. The state government also decided to start regular classes for Classes 1 and 2 from March 1.
So far, the state had registered 2,70,950 coronavirus cases with 2,66,612 recoveries. The Covid-19 death toll stands at 3,050 in Haryana, the Health Ministry data shows.
