New Delhi (NVI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today announced that the national capital will have its own Board of School Education from the upcoming academic year like other states in the country.
The government took the decision in this regard during a cabinet meeting at the Delhi Secretariat.
After chairing the meeting, Kejriwal at a press conference said that, “Delhi Cabinet has given approval for the constitution of the Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE).”
The Chief Minister also said that at present, Delhi has around 1,000 government schools and 1,700 private schools and most of these schools are affiliated with the CBSE.
Moreover, talking about the upcoming board, Kejriwal said, “In the academic session 2021-22, the Delhi government will include 25-25 schools in the proposed upcoming board. This affiliation will be scrapped and they will be affiliated to Delhi Board of School Education.”
He also informed that the selection of schools, as to which schools will be made part of the new board, will be taken after discussion with the principals, teachers and parents.
“We hope that all schools will voluntarily get affiliated to this board within next few years,” Kejriwal added.
The Chief Minister further said that the new board will bring revolutionary changes in the education system of the national capital, thereby taking Delhi to new heights.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Education Minister Manish Sisodia took to Twitter in this regard and appreciated the new school board, saying it will become the basis for fulfilling a very big dream of improving education.

“In this, it will be ensured that every child becomes a good citizen, takes responsibility of the country by becoming a staunch patriot, and becomes a good person. This board will free education from passing an exam through rote learning,” Sisodia tweeted in Hindi.
