Delhi’s air quality fall back to ‘poor’ category from ‘moderate’

New Delhi (NVI): The national capital’s air quality goes back into the “poor” category this morning after remaining in “moderate” level from past two days, with a change in the wind speed.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi recorded an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 232 at around 10 am, which falls in the ‘poor’ category.

The AQI at 289 was recorded in Anand Vihar, 302 in Dwarka, 127 in Lodhi road, 250 in Patparganj, 257 in ITO, and 237 in RK Puram, all areas were found to be in the ‘poor’ and ‘moderate’ category.

An AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’

Earlier, the city’s AQI was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category on Wednesday morning following light rain observed in the city which washed out suspended particulate matter and lead to improved air quality.

Moreover, the Ministry of Earth Sciences’ air quality monitoring agency, SAFAR said that, “Delhi-NCR AQI is likely to stay in the “poor” to “moderate” category for the next two days and “moderate” AQI is forecasted on March 14.”

SAFAR added that thunderstorms with gusty winds and local dust lifting are likely at isolated places today and tomorrow. An increase in wind speed and ventilation is expected on March 12.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the minimum temperature settled at 17 degrees Celsius today and maximum temperature to remain at 34 degrees Celsius.
