Coronavirus cases surge past 119 million worldwide

New Delhi (NVI): The global count of coronavirus cases has reached more than 119 million, with over 2,638,800 deaths reported. Over 67. 2 million patients have been cured from the deadly contagion, according to Johns Hopkins University data.

In the US, the total number of coronavirus infection have reached to more than 29.3 million, while the total number of COVID-19 fatalities have surpassed 5,32,400 in the country.

Brazil surpassed India in coronavirus infections, retaking the post of second hardest-hit nation in the world. The country reported 85,663 new cases on Friday, pushing the overall tally to 11,363,380, while it also accounts the second highest number of COVID-19 fatalities at 2,75,105

Mexico’s health ministry has registered 6,743 new coronavirus cases and 709 additional fatalities on Friday, bringing the total in the country to 2,157,771 cases and 193,851 deaths.

In France, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose above 4 million on Friday as the health ministry reported more than 25,000 new infections.

Meanwhile, Italy has prepared to tighten restrictions across most of the country from Monday and it is facing a new wave of coronavirus infections, Prime Minister Mario Draghi warned.

The Finnish government has also decided to extend the country’s entry restrictions until April 17, while internal border checks and external border restrictions will precede to be active to contain the spread of new virus variants.
