‘eSanjeevani’ records 3 mn consultations

New Delhi (NVI): The ‘eSanjeevani’ telemedicine service platform of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has completed another milestone of 3 million patients consultations.

According to an official statement, the national telemedicine service currently operational in 31 States and UTs and daily over 35,000 patients across the country are using this innovative digital medium ‘eSanjeevani’, to seek health services.

“The leading states in terms of adoption number of consultations of ‘eSanjeevani’ are Tamil Nadu (6,42,708) and Uttar Pradesh (6,31,019,” the Ministry of Health said in a statement.

Other states are that have registered high consultations are Karnataka (6,07,305), Andhra Pradesh (2,16,860), Madhya Pradesh (2,04,296), Gujarat (195281), Kerala (93,317), Maharashtra (84,742), Uttarakhand (74,776) and Himachal Pradesh (67,352).

The ministry also stated that as regards adoption amongst districts, eSanjeevani has been used by citizens in around 600 districts.

Nationally, over 31,000 doctors and paramedics have been trained and on boarded eSanjeevani. Of these, 14,000 doctors practice telemedicine on eSanjeevaniOPD and over 17,000 doctors use eSanjeevaniAB-HWC, it added.

The quick and widespread adoption of ‘eSanjeevani’ reflects that a significant proportion of outpatient visits can be clinically managed effectively remotely, the ministry noted.

On the other hand, the top five districts with largest number of consultations are Salem, TN (1,23,658), Madurai, TN (60,547), Hassan, KA (43,995), Meerut, UP (35,297), Raebareli, UP (34,642).

Further, 18.15 per cent of the patients on eSanjeevaniOPD fall in the age group of up to 18 years and the majority of patients fall between 20 and 40 years. Whereas, 22.89 per cent patients are between 40 and 60 years of age and around 9 per cent patients are senior citizens, the statement said

Apart from that, very soon iOS app of eSanjeevaniOPD will be made available on iOS App Store and this is expected to further increase the penetration of telemedicine service in the country.
