Rain, thunderstorm likely over MP, Chhattisgarh till March 21: IMD

New Delhi (NVI): Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are expected over Madhya Pradesh, Vidharbha, and Chhattisgarh till March 21, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD further states, isolated hailstorms also very likely over West Madhya Pradesh and Vidharbha on March 18, 19; over East Madhya Pradesh on March 19 and over Marathawada and Telangana on March 19, 20.

“Under the influence of an intense Western Disturbance, scattered to widespread rainfall likely over the Western Himalayan Region and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over adjoining plains of Northwest India during 21st – 24th March,” according to an official statement.

However, no significant heatwave conditions are likely over the country during the next week.

During the past week, according to the Ministry of Earth Science, rainfall activity over India as a whole was 34 percent below Long Period Average (LPA) during the past week.

Due to cyclonic circulation/trough over central parts of the country, light to moderate isolated/scattered rain/thundershower occurred over central India during the past week, the ministry added.
